Western Refining CEO Sells Near 52-Week High 
Jeff Stevens sold 380,000 shares, cutting his stake to 4.9% from 5.3%.

The top executive of Western Refining unloaded a portion of his holdings following an upbeat second quarter and as the company's stock surged to a 52-week intraday high.

On Aug. 16 and 17, President and Chief Executive Jeff Stevens sold 380,000 shares of Western Refining (ticker: WNR) for $10,310,217, an average of $27.13 each.

Stevens' direct holdings now stand at 4,499,504 shares and 14,134 shares held indirectly through the WRC Refining Co. Stevens' current direct stake represents a 4.9% stake of the company, down from about 5.3%.

This is his first open-market transaction in nearly two years. Stevens bought 100,000 shares for $436,500, an average of $4.37 each, on Aug. 31, 2010.

Stevens has been a director at the company since 2005. He was named president in 2009 and named CEO in 2010.

In an e-mail, a spokesman for the company writes, "This sale is part of Mr. Stevens' estate-planning process."

In an Aug. 20 update, InsiderScore notes that insider sentiment within the sector has been negative and that the number of sellers "more than doubled week-over-week and the number of buyers remained constant over the same period."...MORE
